KATARAPKO ISLAND

Katarapko Island Fires

Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 km south of Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.

In preparation for today's hot weather, overnight firefighters monitored the fires on the island from the mainland.

No further activity occurred overnight and approximately 30 firefighters from the CFS and DEW will continue to strengthen and secure the fire edges throughout today.

The fires have burned approximately 84 hectares.

These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke may be visible for some distance.

You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.

Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
