KATARAPKO ISLAND

Katarapko Island Fires

Issued for KATARAPKO ISLAND approximately 10 kms south of Berri in the Riverland, South Australia.

12 firefighters from Department for Environment and Water, supported by an Incident Management Team are continuing to strengthen and secure the fire edges, making the most of
milder conditions today.

The fires have burned approximately 84 hectares and have not spread over the last two days due to the efforts of firefighters.

These fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, however, smoke may be visible for some distance around Loxton.

Please ensure that you stay informed and remain aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others.

Emergency Services may be working on and around the roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away.

If you need to travel on the roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
