Incident update for the Keilira Fire

ISSUED FOR KEILIRA

A Bushfire Advice Message is current for the Robertson Road/Bald Hill Road Keilira fire.

Fire crews from the CFS and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) continue to strengthen control lines and mop up hot spots across the fireground. Heavy machinery is being used to build mineral earth breaks on the southern boundary of the fire ahead of today's predicted strong northerly winds.

CFS and NPWS have had 45 firefighters with 11 fire trucks, 2 bulk water carriers and 3 heavy plants working on the fire today.

Crews will continue to actively monitor the fire over the next few days.

Today's weather forecast includes strong winds and dry, hot weather across the fireground. A fire burning under the these conditions will be fast moving, unpredictable and difficult for fire crews to control.

Properties near the fire ground are at most risk of outbreaks during today's Fire Danger weather. This includes the following localities:

Keilira,
Woolumbool,
Avenue Range,
Lucindale,
Lochaber,
Stewart Range,
Naracoorte,
Keppoch,
Marcollat and
Padthaway.

Please enact your Bushfire Survival Plan. Also consider the safety of vulnerable people, the preparedness of properties, and the location of livestock.

If you notice any unattended fire please call (000) to report it.
