Incident Update for Robertson Road, Keilira Fire

ISSUED FOR KEILIRA

A Watch and Act message is current for the Robertson Rd, Keilira Fire.

This uncontrolled fire is burning in scrub and grass and has so far burnt around 15,000 hectares.

Crews and aircraft are actively working on this fire, which is thought to have been started by dry lightning strikes in the area.

The wind change that was forecast is now impacting the direction of the fire. It is now moving in north easterly direction past Woolumbool Road and Ballater Road, heading towards the Riddoch Highway.

Local road closures are in place. Rowney Road, that runs from Riddoch highway to Kingston has been closed. SAPOL are in attendance in the fire area.

This fire is creating a lot of smoke, with reports of smoke and ash on the outskirts of Naracoorte, With the change in wind direction the smoke is likely to also blow towards Padthaway. This smoke may cause low visibility, and motorists in the affected areas are asked to take care. Anyone who suffers from respiratory conditions should close doors and windows, and remain inside.

Residents in the area need to be aware that if infrastructure has been damaged then communications, power and water supply may be interrupted .
