The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises people in and around the Long Plains area of the Adelaide Plains that a large amount of smoke is visible to the wider area.
The cause of the smoke is due to a hay shed fire that has been burning since the early hours of Wednesday morning (5/12/18). This fire is currently contained and a smoke advice has been issued due to expire at 1300hrs Thursday 6/12/18. The hay has burnt down to approximately 2 metres in height and is expected to continue to burn for the next 24 hours.
There are crews on scene and they will remain there until the fire is declared safe. The fire is not expected to escape from the shed and pose any threat to community.
As a precaution residents in the area who suffer from respiratory or cardiac conditions may wish to consider closing all doors and windows and remaining indoors.
