Large Haystack Fire at Lower Light

ISSUED FOR LOWER LIGHT

CFS crews are continuing to work on a large haystack that caught alight yesterday afternoon along McEvoy Road, Lower Light.

Approximately 100 tonnes of hay have already been moved and extinguished, however crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the remainder of today, and into the night.

Approximately 400 tonnes of hay is still smouldering.

Attending crews are working with heavy machinery in order to break the haystack apart and extinguish the fire.

The fire is causing smoke to linger within the area and to drift in a westerly direction toward Gulf St. Vincent.

Crews will remain on scene until the fire has been extinguished.
