MAAOUPE

Maaoupe Hay Stack Fire

Issued for Maaoupe, approximately 8 kilometres north west of Coonawarra in the Lower South East of South Australia.

Four CFS crews being supported by farm fire units, water tankers and heavy machinery are currently extinguishing a hay stack fire in Maaoupe, that is causing significant amounts of smoke Intermittently over the surrounding areas including the Riddoch Highway.

Crews are working to pull apart the approximately 150 bales which have caught alight. Due to the significant number of bales on fire crews will remain on scene into this evening. No other assets were under threat by this fire and the estimated damage bill is $22,500.

Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to please take care and drive to the local conditions while following direction of emergency service personnel.

Anyone driving in the area is encouraged to drive to conditions if smoke is impacting the road.
