The CFS, assisted by MFS and aircraft, have contained a rubbish dump fire at Southern Regional Waste Authority site on Bakewell Drive in McLaren Vale.

This fire is contained within the rubbish dump and poses no current threat to the public.

Smoke from the initial fire has been significantly reduced as a result of multiple drops of water from aircraft, including the CFS Blackhawk heliocopter.

3 CFS tankers, 4 MFS trucks and 4 CFS bulk water carriers, with 38 firefighters expect to remain on scene for the next 2-3 hours to monitor conditions.

As a precaution residents in the area who suffer from respiratory or cardiac conditions may wish to consider closing all doors and windows and remaining indoors.
