Scrub fire in Mount Benson in the states South East
ISSUED FOR MOUNT BENSON
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is responding to a scrub fire near Robe in the State's South East.
There are currently 10 CFS trucks attending the fire with 50 volunteers supported by 5 Farm Fire Units. The fire is now contained however, a significant number of trees remain alight presenting a significant hazard. The fire has burned approximately 25 hectares of scrub.
The fire was started by a lightning strike at approximately 7:00 pm on Tuesday 12 December.
This fire may be causing smoke in the area, and members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving.
South Australia has experienced a significant number of dry lightning strikes, and the CFS urges anyone who sees an unattended fire to please call 000.
