ISSUED FOR MOUNT WEDGE
Approximately 50 CFS volunteer firefighters are currently working on the fireground.
They have been supported by 8 aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft throughout the day. Operations are also being supported by SA Police, Farm Fire Units and Heavy Machinery.
Local weather conditions have caused erratic fire behaviour on the fire ground. An expected change in weather conditions with cooler temperatures and higher humidity should lead to fire conditions easing overnight.
The Rocky Valley Road has been closed due to this incident. A full list of current road closures is available at https://traffic.sa.gov.au/
At this time it is unknown when roads will be reopened.
For communities in and around the fire area, you should identify your closest Bushfire Safer Place and travel to the area well before the fire threatens your safety.
Bushfire Safer Places are often within townships.
When identifying your closest Bushfire Safer Place, you must work out your options if your route to this location is threatened by the fire.
When you make the decision to leave it is recommended you stay informed about the MOUNT WEDGE SCRUB FIRE and adjust your plan if conditions change.
A list of all Bushfire Safer Places can be found at https://cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-for-a-fire/bushfire-safer-places/ or on your local council's website.
