INCIDENT UPDATE- MOUNT REMARKABLE NATIONAL PARK

Issued for the Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges.

CFS Volunteers are currently attending a scrub fire with National Parks Firefighters in the Mount Remarkable National Park, approximately 12km's west of Melrose, Flinders Ranges.

Around 30 Firefighters on 8 trucks are currently on scene after crews were alerted to this fire at around 7am this morning. Crews are being supported by 6 aerial firebombing and observation aircraft. Aircraft are being refilled out of the Stirling North Airbase near Port Augusta.

Northern areas of South Australia experienced wide spread lightning activity overnight and the CFS is currently conducting an observation flight over the Flinders Ranges to assist in identifying any possible fires from the overnight lightning.

It is expected that crews will remain on scene for the remainder of the day in order to contain the fire.

SA CFS would like to advise the community that smoke may be visible in and around the Mount Remarkable National Park and well as surrounding communities.
