NEWLAND FIRE UPDATE
ISSUED FOR NEWLAND
Country Fire Service crews remain in attendance at a fire at Harriet Road, East West One Highway and East West Two Highway, Newland on Kangaroo Island.
The fire has been contained, and a reduced threat message has been issued.
Over several hours on Sunday afternoon, the fire burnt through 160 hectares of scrub and grass, and threatened several structures. At the height of the blaze, an emergency warning message was issued, with 13 appliances from the CFS and Department for Environment and Water, supported by farm fire units and 6 water bombing aircraft, tackling the blaze.
All roads have now been reopened to the public. Fire Investigators from CFS and SA Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
