Nuriootpa Grass Fire

The CFS is working to extinguish a grass fire at Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley of South Australia.

5 CFS Trucks with approximately 25 Firefighters, being supported by South Australia Police, are currently working on the fireground to extinguish a fire burning in reeds, grass and scrub along the creek line.

CFS firefighters have prevented the fire from spreading into the surrounding area. Crews will remain on scene for several hours to ensure the fire remains contained, prevent reignitions and ensures the area remains safe.

The fire was caused by a resident operating an angle grinder. Today, Total Fire Bans (TFBs) are in effect across 8 out of the 15 CFS fire ban districts. We ask communities to do their part by following all restrictions in areas under a Total Fire Ban.

Smoke is impacting roads in the area, and visibility may be reduced. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
