Penfield Fire
Issued for Penfield near Edinburgh in the Northern Suburbs.
The CFS advises that a grass fire is burning near the Edinburgh RAAF base in Penfield in the Northern Suburbs. A warning message is current for this fire, please refer to www.cfs.sa.gov.au for latest updates.
CFS ground crews are in attendance with the support of aircraft, and will remain at the scene until the fire is fully extinguished. CFS volunteers on 38 trucks are being supported the Metropolitan Fire Service working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
Burning plastic has resulted in a significant amount of black smoke impacting the area. If any member of the public has chronic respiratory issues they are advised to monitor conditions and seek medical assistance if required. The community are advised to close all windows and doors and stay inside especially those with respiratory or cardiac conditions.
Road closures are in place including Womma Road, Andrews Road, Bellchambers Road, Stebonheath Road. A full list of current road closures is available at www.traffic.sa.gov.au
To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
