ISSUED FOR PORT LINCOLN
The CFS, in partnership with MFS and National Parks and Wildlife Service, are continuing to monitor and patrol the fire ground and the waste management facility in Port Lincoln on South Australia's Lower Eyre Peninsula.
CFS reports that 23 structures have been impacted -16 of those having been destroyed, however, several properties were saved due to the diligent and timely response by all emergency service personnel.
Currently potentially hazardous smoke continues to drift across the area and the community are still advised to keep all windows and doors closed. If any member of the public has chronic respiratory issues it is advised to monitor conditions and contact your doctor or present at the hospital if required.
There is forecasted moderate fire weather for the next several days and this will assist in making the fire ground safe. Smoke from the waste management facility is expected for the next few days.
