PRICE SHED FIRE UPDATE

ISSUED FOR PRICE

CFS advises that they are attending a large industrial shed fire containing plastic packaging materials and piles of cardboard near Reliance Rd, Price on the Northern Yorke Peninsula. The fire is still smouldering and some piles of cardboard and plastics are burning inside the shed.

13 CFS crews are in attendance with the support of 3 MFS crews, and they will remain until the fire is fully extinguished. Specialist CFS Hazardous Material crews are on the scene for atmospheric monitoring, along with an incident support vehicle, a Breathing Apparatus support vehicle, and further CFS firefighters trained in Breathing Apparatus.

This structure fire is producing grey, potentially hazardous smoke, which is hanging low in the air around Price. During firefighting operations, it is normal for there to be periodic increases in smoke.

The roads may not be clear due to increased traffic of emergency vehicles working in the area, and low hanging smoke.

The community are advised to close all windows and doors and stay inside, especially those with respiratory or cardiac conditions. If any member of the public has chronic respiratory issues they are advised to monitor conditions and seek medical assistance if required.

Please do not enter the area unless necessary, for your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area.
