ISSUED FOR THE RAVINE FIRE, ON THE WESTERN END OF KANGAROO ISLAND

An Emergency Warning Message is current for the Ravine fire on Kangaroo Island.

The CFS has also issued a Watch and Act Message for an extended area across the eastern half of Kangaroo Island from Parndana through to Kingscote airport and township, American River and Penneshaw.

Townships of Kingscote and Penneshaw are considered areas of safety and those choosing to leave their homes are requested to move towards either Kingscote or Penneshaw.

There is a real risk posed by this fire. This fire is burning out of control, having breached the control lines.

It is important for the community to stay alert and monitor conditions.

This is a dynamic fireground and conditions are continually changing.

The Ravine fire remains uncontrolled and unpredictable in nature and difficult for fire crews to control.

If it is safe to leave, and a path is clear, please make your way to a Bushfire Safer Place at Kingscote or Penneshaw (www.cfs.sa.gov.au).

A relief centre has been established at Kingscote from 09:00am today (3rd January, 2020) at the Kingscote Football Club, Centenary Avenue, Kingscote.

Put your Bushfire Survival Plan into action. Make sure you consider the safety of vulnerable people, the preparedness of properties and the location of livestock.
