Grass fire at Robe
Issued for ROBE in Lower South East, South Australia.
The CFS remain on scene at a grass fire approximately 6 Kilometers south east of Robe in the Lower South East of South Australia.
Firefighters have managed to stop the spread of this fire at 50ha before it could reach the Southern Ports Highway. 40 CFS volunteers on 12 trucks and 3 aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft are still on scene, being supported by Department for Environment and Water and Farm Fire Units. Fire crews will be remaining on scene overnight to continue working towards extinguishing this fire. Heavy machinery is being used to support with burning trees within the fireground.
Smoke is likely to continue drifting smoke in the area and across the Southern Ports Highway which may impact visibility. Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and avoid the area where possible.
