Solomon fire

Issued for SOLOMON near Kimba on the Eyre Peninsula.

The CFS has contained the grass fire in the Caralue Bluff Conservation Park near Kimba in the Eastern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia.

Approximately 8 CFS trucks are currently on the fireground alongside 8 Department for Environment and Water trucks, observational aircraft and plant equipment.

This fire remains to the south of the highway and at this stage is not expected to cross the highway. Crews remain on the fire ground working to put out any hotspots burning in scrub and native vegetation.

Additional firefighters will be travelling today from across South Australia to relieve crews and support with monitoring this fire into the early hours of tomorrow morning.

To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.

This fire is believed to be caused by the lightning event which has caused a number of fires across the district. If you spot an unattended fire please report it to 000.
