Update on fire near Tilley Swamp
ISSUED FOR TILLEY SWAMP
The CFS is attending a scrub and grass fire which has impacted into the Tilley Swamp Conservation Park and has burnt approximately 800ha, the fire is approximately 40km north of Kingston SE, in the State's Upper South East.
The CFS, supported by National Parks and Wildlife service and farm firefighting units, have 80 firefighters, 20 trucks, 2 heavy plant and approximately 10 farm fire units on scene. They are being assisted by 6 aircraft. Heavy plant is being used to construct containment lines within the conservation park. The fire is burning within the boundaries of the Tilley Swamp Conservation Park. Fire fighters will remain on scene throughout the night and through tomorrow.
The Princes Highway is closed to traffic, please avoid traveling through the area. Smoke will be visible from the fire area for several days.
