Maggea Road, Waikerie

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is currently responding to a fire in Waikerie in the Riverland of South Australia.
The fire is at the Waste Transfer Station on Maggea Road, Waikerie.
Approximately 28 CFS firefighters, supported by Council machinery and SA Police, are currently working on the fire ground.The fire is not expected to break away from the Waste Transfer Station and pose any threat to the community.
CFS resources, supported by Council machinery, will remain on the scene for the next couple of days working to extinguish the fire.
The fire is causing a large amount of smoke in the area, and will continue to produce smoke for some time as the fire is being extinguished. Members of the community are urged to take care, particularly if driving.
As a precaution, residents in the area who suffer from respiratory or cardiac conditions may wish to consider closing all doors and windows and remaining indoors.
