Wilmington scrub fire
Issued for WILMINGTON in the Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges.
There is a scrub fire at Alligator Gorge, near Wilmington in the Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia.
This fire continues to burn in the park and has increased overnight to 770 HA. Due to the thick scrub and hard to access terrain this fire will continue to burn for some time towards Stony Creek Track. The fire currently remains within park borders with no threat to local properties, however, local community should stay informed while the fire continues to burn.
CFS firefighters, Department of Environment and Water crews, and CFS aircraft including firebombers and observational aircraft are currently in attendance.
The Mount Remarkable National Park will remain closed until further notice.
Emergency services may be working on and around roads in the area, and motorists are advised to stay away. If you need to travel on roads in the area, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
Smoke is impacting roads in the area with weather changes likely to change the smoke direction over the course of today, and visibility will be reduced. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
