WILMINGTON

Wilmington Scrub Fire

Issued for WILMINGTON, MELROSE, NECTAR BROOK and MAMBRAY CREEK in the Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges.

Around 100 CFS and DEW firefighters continued working on the scrub fire in the Mount Remarkable National Park, supported by aircraft.

Aircraft have deployed fire retardant to lower the risk of spreading past control lines, and aerial bombing and observational aircraft are supporting firefighters on the ground.

Controlled burns are planned for tonight and tomorrow if required to limit the fire from spreading.

During these burns, the community may notice more smoke, flames, and embers, especially at night. Smoke impacting local communities may increase at different points during the coming days and should take precautions for your health and drive to the conditions.

The community are reminded to stay vigilant and monitor information provided by CFS to know if the situation changes.

We understand this may a stressful time for the local community so to help keep residents informed, there is a dedicated webpage to provide information about the fire and preparedness tips: cfs.sa.gov.au/wilmington-fire

Mount Remarkable National Park will remain closed until further notice.
