WILMINGTON

Wilmington Scrub Fire

Issued for WILMINGTON in the Mount Remarkable National Park in the Flinders Ranges.

Around 100 CFS and DEW firefighters continue to work on the scrub fire in the Mount Remarkable National Park, supported by aircraft.

Controlled burns on Saturday 8 February successfully reduced fuel in the targeted areas. Firefighters are patrolling today, focussing on extinguishing hotspots and smouldering trees.

Further controlled burns will take place Sunday 9 February, supported by aircraft. The community may notice more smoke, flames and embers, especially at night, which is to be expected following a controlled burn.

Whilst there is currently no threat to lives and property, we encourage residents to check the CFS website regularly to stay informed and know if the situation changes.

Hancocks Lookout Road is closed to the public between Morphett Road and Sims Road to reduce traffic around emergency personnel working in the area.

Residents are encouraged to visit cfs.sa.gov.au/wilmington-fire to receive regular updates of the fire and important information of bushfire preparedness.

Mount Remarkable National Park continues to remain closed until further notice.
