Wilmington Fire
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises there is currently a bushfire burning in the Mount Remarkable National Park, located near Melrose, approximately 67kms north-east of Port Pirie in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
The fire is currently burning in inaccessible terrain. Department of Environment and Water firefighters, supported by aircraft will continue working to extinguish the fire over the coming days. The work conducted yesterday by ground crews and aircraft has been successful in preventing further spread of the fire overnight.
The fire currently poses no threat to the surrounding communities and firefighters are confident that the fire edge is secured. Smoke may be visible to community members in the surrounding areas over the coming days.
