ISSUED FOR WYE
Approximately 40 CFS and Green Triangle Forestry crews have been attending a fire in a quarry at Tillers Road, Green Point Road and Eight Mile Creek Road, east of Port MacDonnell. The fire is now controlled and being monitored overnight.
The fire will continue to burn for several days due to the variety of material in the quarry. At times this will cause large amounts of smoke in the vicinity and members of the community are urged to take care when driving in the area.
CFS firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the quarry over the coming days.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
