Multiple messages current for Yorketown fire

ISSUED FOR YORKETOWN

CFS advises the Yorketown fire has spread in a southerly direction to the coast and is currently spreading slowly from the eastern and western flanks.

An Emergency Warning is current for the area within the fireground and around the eastern and western edges. Do not leave or enter the RED Emergency Warning area in a vehicle or on foot. It is too late to leave as the roads will not be safe.

CFS advises there is also a current Watch and Act Message for this fire. For those within the YELLOW Watch and Act Message area, take action now as this bushfire may threaten your safety.

A wind change which is predicted to occur some time after midnight will result in the eastern flank of the fire to become the head of the fire travelling west towards Coobowie, Edithburgh and Port Giles during the night. Conditions are currently favourable for leaving the areas within the YELLOW Watch and Act message via St Vincent Highway. It will be too late to leave after the wind change. Access to Yorketown via St Vincent Highway is not a safe route.
