Yumali Stubble Fire

ISSUED FOR YUMALI

The Yumali fire has burnt approx. 4800 hectares of grass, crop and stubble with patches of scrub also impacted. The fire progressed quickly through the vegetation with yesterday's prevailing winds and has slowed overnight with improved conditions and is now contained.

The cause of this fire was due to SA Power Infrastructure and SA Power Networks are working with fire cause investigators.

CFS along with Farm Fire Units, Department of Environment and Water (DEW) crews and earth moving machinery have been actively working overnight to control this fire and are continuing to strengthen control lines.

While firefighting crews are in attendance and mopping up the fire edge, the machinery is working around the edges to put mineral earth breaks in place.

This fire is likely to continue producing smoke in the area for some time. If you suffer from any respiratory illnesses, please consider closing doors and windows. If you need to travel in the area, be aware smoke may impair your visibility. Please take care and drive to the conditions.
