SAMPSON FLAT FIRE – Emergency Services need detail in 000 calls

07/01/2015

The Country Fire Service would like to ask people dialling 000 to report a hazard or request assistance to be very specific in their communication. Try to obtain as much information before dialling and be as specific as possible with location and details. This will assist Emergency Services attending to the issue in the most effective and timely manner.

People should also be aware that ember glow and flames are continuing to be seen from the fire ground but are burning within the patrolled fire perimeter. Any flames that are seen from outside the fire perimeter should be reported to 000 immediately.

During the warmer conditions experienced yesterday there were a number of strong, localised "whirlies" caused by climatic conditions on the fire ground. This is likely to be experienced again tomorrow and residents cleaning up or returning to their property should be aware of the risk of ash and embers whipped up and wear appropriate clothing and eyewear.
