Time Message Issued: 22:36
Date Message Issued: 06/01/2018

Fire Origin / Fire Name: SHERWOOD

Issued for Sherwood, McCallum, Makin

CFS wishes to advise that the fire burning in Sherwood, McCallum and Makin areas in the Upper South East of South Australia is progressing slowly in a north easterly direction. Firefighters are still working to contain the fire however fire intensity and rate of spread has moderated. Assets and structures in the area may still be at risk and you should continue to follow your bushfire survival plan. CFS crews will continue to actively fight the fire overnight. Members of the public are advised to stay out of the area until advised it is safe to return. Some roads in the area remain closed and there may be fallen trees, sheep and cattle on the road and downed power lines which may pose a risk to public safety. Members of the public should avoid structures affected by fire due to the risk of structural collapse. Smoke may be present in the area for a number of days. Take care in the fire area in the next few days. If you are at home check your property for any fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters. Monitor conditions as they may be changing during the night.
