CFS MONITORING FIRES NEAR CEDUNA

The CFS will advance its assessment of a complex of grass fires north of Ceduna which were ignited by lightning strikes two days ago.
The fires in the Yumbarra and Pureba Conservation Parks are burning with an estimated 20-kilometre front.
An observation aircraft will make a surveillance flight over the area today to determine the size of the fire and its potential threat when forecast hot weather conditions move it towards Ceduna.
The fires are currently burning in sparsely-populated areas about 30 kilometres north of Ceduna.
People with respiratory conditions in the area are also being advised to close all doors and windows and remain indoors as a precaution.
Residents are advised to check and follow their Bushfire Survival Plans and monitor conditions through updates on local radio.
The CFS has also issued an Advice Message warning the fire is generating smoke affecting Ceduna and Koonibba townships and farming areas north of Ceduna.
Road users in the area have also been advised to drive with caution if the smoke affects their visibility.
