CFS ALLAYS EDEN VALLEY SMOKE CONCERN

21/01/2014

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is advising residents and visitors in the Barossa Valley not to be concerned about smoke in the area.

The smoke is from minor flare-ups at the Eden Valley fire which is under control.

The fire began last Friday and burnt more than 24,000 hectares between Eden Valley and Truro.

The CFS has issued an advice message notifying that fire conditions have eased and the forward rate of spread has been halted, and posing no threat to life or property.

People in the area including the towns of Truro, Keyneton, Graetztown, Towitta, Moculta, Eden Valley and Sanderston may see smoke in their vicinity which may reduce visibility on some roads.

People with respiratory conditions are advised to remain indoors.

Current incidents are updated regularly on the CFS website, with bushfire messages broadcast on local radio and also available through the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361.
