FDS ENDS TOMORROW IN TWO FIRE BAN DISTRICTS

31/03/2014

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that the Fire Danger Season in the North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral fire ban districts will end at midnight tonight.

This means that fire restrictions will be lifted in these two districts from tomorrow but the Fire Danger Season will still apply in South Australia's remaining 13 fire ban districts.

CFS State Coordinator Leigh Miller said people in these two fire ban districts should also be aware that fire bans can still be declared outside of the Fire Danger Season in certain conditions.

"There are many people who could be camping and may want to light a camp fire or landowners who could be considering a burn-off on their property, for fuel reduction," Mr Miller said.

"It is important that they first check the CFS website or call the Bushfire Information Hotline for updated information on restrictions or bans that could affect their decision."

The remaining 13 Fire Ban Districts will progressively end their Fire Danger Season at different periods over the next four weeks with the next one being Kangaroo Island on Friday, 4 April.

For more information on the Fire Danger Season dates for South Australia's 15 Fire Ban Districts, visit the CFS website at www.cfs.sa.gov.au or contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361.
