Firefighters reunite

04/05/2015

South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) volunteers are invited to the SA Volunteer Fire Fighters Museum Inc (SAVFFM) reunion on the October long weekend.

All past and present members (staff and volunteer) as well as their families are invited to celebrate their involvement of the CFS.

SAVFFM Chairman Rex Hall AFSM said this year's reunion will be a three day affair, starting with a dinner on the Saturday night, October 3.

"A parade of firetrucks from the horse drawn firefighting equipment, earliest appliance, to the newly delivered will take place on Sunday, followed by a day of trade displays and events at the Naracoorte Showgrounds," Mr Hall said.

"We will also have a Blessing of the Fleet on Sunday morning followed by more entertainment on Sunday night."

"The last reunion, five years ago, saw 300 people gather to reminisce about their time in the CFS, we're sure this will be another great event."

CFS Chief Officer Greg Nettleton said the reunion is a chance to celebrate the achievements and contribution our volunteers give.

"The CFS not only brings people together to attend incidents but it also builds lasting friendships, which I'm sure will be evident at the reunion," Mr Nettleton said.

"It's also is a good time to look back at how far our service has come, the parade on Sunday will give evidence of this I'm sure."
