SAMPSON FLAT BUSHFIRE - CFS urges people to enact their Bushfire Survival Plan

02/01/2015

The CFS advises that the Sampson Flat bushfire is continuing to burn vigorously in thick scrub with erratic fire behaviour in the Kersbrook, Humbug Scrub region approximately 35 kilometres North East of Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills.
The CFS has concerns about changing wind directions during the night and freshening pre-dawn localised winds that will influence fire behaviour tomorrow. As a result this bushfire has the potential to impact on the Gumeracha, Birdwood, Kersbrook and Houghton regions.
Due to this uncertain nature it is imperative that people within these vicinities take appropriate action.
The CFS urges people to implement their bushfire survival plan now with these unpredictable changing conditions and to make their decision as to whether they are prepared to stay or leave to a safer place whilst their exit is clear.
Significant smoke and fallen trees could make safe travel difficult in the area and residents should be well aware of their safest exit route and proceed with caution. Do not drive into smoke.
It is critical for people to stay informed of the changing conditions throughout the night and morning and implement their bushfire survival plan.
Stay informed through www.cfs.sa.gov.au, ABC and local radio, the CFS FireApp and CFS Facebook for further information or call the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361.

The CFS will be holding Community Meetings at Kersbrook and One Tree Hill tomorrow at the following times and locations:

Kersbrook 11.00am
Kersbrook Soldiers Memorial Park Community and Sports Club
57 Glover Street, Kersbrook

One Tree Hill 3.00pm
One Tree Hill Primary School
McGilp Road, One Tree Hill
