Smoke and Incident Update

Smoke across Metropolitan Areas and Adelaide Hills
CFS would also like to remind the community that due to incidents that both the SA Country Fire Service and SA Metropolitan Fire Service have attended today coupled with the high winds and presence of dust in the air many areas are experiencing a smoke haze and smell.
The predicted overnight wind change may impact areas that had previously not been affected. The community are advised to close all windows and doors and stay inside especially those affected by respiratory or cardiac conditions.
Residents are reporting that the smoke has a strong odour and this is due to the fuel type burning at the Buckland Park fire.
Residents should also stay aware of what is happening in their area by listening to your local ABC radio, visiting the CFS Website www.cfs.sa.gov.au or calling the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361 or on social media via Facebook and Twitter.
The community is also reminded that if they see flames or plumes of smoke to call triple zero.
Buckland Park
More than 100 SA Country Fire Service (CFS) and SA Metropolitan Fire Service Firefighters continue to work at the blaze at Buckland Park that Started just after 1530hours today (11 April 2018).
The fire has impacted multiple piles of mulch, some standing 10 metres tall across the 10 hectare Jefferies Compost, Soil and Mulch Processing facility.
Crews will remain on scene for overnight with a possibility of being present for the next few days as the fire continues to burn with a current Bushfire Advice Message issued due to the amount of smoke being produced.
Residents in areas affected by smoke are being advised to close all doors and windows and stay inside. Residents are reporting a strong odour with the smoke; this is due to the fuel type that is burning being different from the typical bushfire smoke odour.
The fire is not continuing to develop in size. A wind change predicted for the early hours of the morning may see smoke being pushed across more of the northern suburbs.
Paechtown
The fire in the Adelaide Hills at Paechtown near Mount Barker that started just after 8pm this evening has been contained.
A Bushfire Advice message remains current for this fire for smoke that is being produced from a shed that was impacted by the fire containing hay. A bobcat was also destroyed in the fire.
It is believed that this fire will continue to produce smoke into tomorrow morning as crews work to extinguish fire.
Residents in the area are advised to close all doors and windows and stay indoors if you suffer any respiratory or cardiac conditions.
