$100,000 haystack fire at Korunye - 1 March 2022
At 1:45pm this afternoon CFS crews were alerted to a haystack fire on Paddys Bridge Road at Korunye, between Mallala and Two Wells in the Adelaide Plains area.
On arrival, CFS volunteers found 650 bales of hay alight within a paddock. Thankfully, the area surrounding the bales of hay was muddy and crews could easily stop the fire from spreading through the paddocks and keep it contained to the haystack. Losses are expected to be around $100,000.
Due to the amount of hay burning, the CFS will remain on scene monitoring the fire, with crews being rotated over the coming hours and likely days.
