Car and caravan fire at Mount Bryan - 25 November 2023
CFS crews were called to a car and caravan fire on the Barrier Highway in Mount Bryan in the state’s north-east at 10:45am.
Five CFS crews from Burra, Hallett and Mount Bryan, with an approximate total of 20 CFS volunteers attended the fire and were supported by Farm Fire Units and SAPOL.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find both the car, caravan and surrounding road verge on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and successfully contained the fire on the road verge to 200 square meters.
The Barrier highway sustained damage and is currently under SAPOL control, with the Department of Infrastructure to attend the scene later this afternoon.
The car and caravan have been destroyed and losses estimated at $240,000, with the cause believed to be an electrical fault in the caravan.
