Chemical reaction at Goolwa - 11 November 2024
CFS & MFS crews, including a specialised CFS hazardous materials (hazmat) crew, were called to investigate a chorine and bisulphate chemical reaction in Goolwa, south of Adelaide.
The chemicals were being used in pool maintenance at a local lifestyle village. The chemical reaction was discovered when one of the exposed attended the local medical centre with health concerns.
Firefighters have created an exclusion zone around the area and are dispersing the chemicals to ensure the area is safe.
SA Ambulance are on scene with three people in total being exposed to the substances and two transported to hospital.
SA Police are also on scene to support firefighters.
