Grass Fire at Point Sturt - 16 November 2023
A grass fire believed to be started by an angle grinder has caused damage to three structures at Point Sturt near Clayton Bay. The impacted structures include a caravan, shed with solar batteries inside and overhead awning with solar panels equalling estimated damage of $50,000. There are currently no reported injuries from this incident.
9 CFS crews with approximately 35 firefighters supported by 6 aircraft were able to quickly get the fire under control saving nearby houses. Crews are expected to remain on scene into the evening to continue working to extinguish the blaze and mop up the property.
With most of the state now in fire danger season CFS reminds the community to remain vigilant when using power tools throughout the season.
