Header fire at Agery - 21 November 2024
Eleven CFS crews, 24 local Farm Fire Units and an observational aircraft have saved approximately $1 million of farming equipment and crop after a header caught alight while harvesting on a farm in Agery on the Yorke Peninsula.
The header comb was the ignition point for this fire and was able to be detached. Surrounding crop caught alight and burned 15 ha before firefighters were able to contain the blaze to prevent further damage to the harvester and crop. The estimated damage amount is $300,000.
Crews will remain on scene into this afternoon to ensure the area remains safe and scrub along the road does not ignite.
