House fire at Flaxman Valley - 30 August 2024
At midday CFS were called to a single-storey house that was fully involved in fire at Craneford Road, Flaxman Valley, located just south of Angaston.
25 CFS personnel from Eden Valley, Mount Pleasant, Springton and Angaston attended on four trucks and two bulk water carriers.
Firefighters employed defensive strategies to prevent the fire’s spread to a nearby building and other storage facilities. Throughout the incident volunteer personnel faced high winds, which resulted in roofing sheets becoming airborne.
Despite the challenging conditions, CFS personnel managed to control the fire in 60 minutes. No one was home at the time of the incident and crews are now making the property safe. Damage has been estimated at $300,000.
Fire Investigators are currently undertaking an investigation to determine the cause.
