House fire at Kaltjiti (Fregon) - June 17

Update at 7am:

 

Early this morning, a CFS crew were called to a house fire Kaltjiti Road, Kaltjiti (also known as Fregon) in the APY Lands.

The contents of the home were lost, but due to it being a tin structure, the structure itself is still intact.

All occupants evacuated themselves safely, but the brigade is transporting one occupant to hospital.

The repair costs of the structure is estimated at $500,000, mostly due to the distance contractors will have to travel to make the repairs.

The cause is suspicious and police will be investigating.
