House fire in Iwantja - 2 July 2024

At approximately 11:00pm yesterday, CFS firefighters from the Marla and Mimili Brigades responded to reports of a structure fire in Iwantja, of the APY lands in the northwest of the state.

The crews arrived to find a property fully engulfed in flames and worked defensively to contain the fire. Although the house is still standing, the roof did collapse, with damages of approximately $150,000. Efficient work of firefighters prevented any further spread of fire from the property.

SA Police assisted firefighters on scene and Fire Cause will be attending the site today.
