House fire in Lucindale - 24 October 2024

Eight trucks carrying approximately 37 firefighters, with support from SA Ambulance Service and SA Police, responded to a Triple Zero call at 2:15pm to attend a house fire at Park Drive, Lucindale, in the state’s South East.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the house fully involved in fire with solar panels alight and its roof on the verge of collapse.

All occupants had evacuated the house and there were no injuries.

Students at a school located in the fire’s vicinity were transported away via alternative routes with staff asked to exit the site due to potential for smoke drift.

HazMat equipment has been utilised for atmospheric monitoring and firefighters are using breathing apparatus to conduct offensive attacks on the fire.

The fire has been contained to the structure, which has, unfortunately, been destroyed. Damage is estimated at $500,000.

Crews are continuing to fight the blaze, with volunteer firefighters expected to remain on scene for several hours. There is no threat to neighbouring properties.
