Motorhome fire at St Kilda - 25 January 2024
At approximately 9.40pm tonight, CFS crews were called to a motorhome fire on St Kilda Road in St Kilda.
The occupants of the motorhome were not inside at the time and managed to avoid injury.
Approximately 14 CFS crew on 2 trucks and 1 bulk water carrier, with the support of 8 MFS crew on 2 additional trucks, extinguished the fire. Crews are being supported by SA Police and Ambulance Services.
Whilst the motorhome was a total loss (estimated at approximately $100,000.00), the combined efforts of the responding crews meant a nearby motorhome trailer, worth approximately $80,000.00, was saved, with only minor damage being sustained.
The cause of the fire is believed to be due to inattentive cooking at the motorhome. This incident is a timely reminder that cooking is a task which requires full attention, and any distraction may lead to a fire that potentially threatens lives and destroys property.
