Pearlah house fire - 1 May 2024

At 11:15pm CFS crews were alerted to a house fire on Pobke Road at Pearlah about 25 kilometres north west of Port Lincoln on the Lower Eyre Peninsula.

Crews arrived to find the fire had spread into the single-storey family home's roof space.

The residents had evacuated safely, and two adults were being assessed for possible smoke inhalation.

15 CFS firefighters including crews equipped with Breathing Apparatus carefully worked room by room to extinguish the fire amid concerns of structural weaknesses - particularly to the ceiling.

They managed to save the rear rooms from being impacted but there was extensive damage to 14 rooms and the bill is expected to exceed $300,000.

Fire cause investigators will attend the site in the morning.
