Structure fire in Goolwa - 15 January 2025
Shortly after 6:00 pm, CFS firefighters responded to a structure fire at Goolwa on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia.
A total of 40 CFS firefighters with 9 trucks worked alongside the Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Police, SA Ambulance Service, and SA Power Networks in a coordinated effort to extinguish the fire in a 30m x 40m shed.
Thanks to their quick and effective response, firefighters prevented the fire from spreading, which could have caused much greater damage to the business, its contents, and neighbouring properties.
While the shed itself was not destroyed, it did incur smoke damage, and unfortunately, some of the contents, including caravans, were lost.
However, thanks to the efforts of both the firefighters and the owners, other items were successfully salvaged, helping to minimise the overall damage.
Crews will remain on site for some time using thermal imaging cameras to check for hot spots.
The damage has been estimated at $1 million, and Fire Investigators have been called to the scene.
