Truck fire in Manoora - 6 November 2024

At approximately 11:00 pm last night, CFS volunteers were called to a double trailer semi truck which had caught alight and started a small grass fire on the Barrier Highway near Manoora in the Mid North of South Australia.

Eight crews including a specialised hazardous materials (HazMat) unit attended the scene due to lithium batteries and paint being among the various items contained within the trailers. The scene was deemed safe and the fire is now extinguished with firefighters remaining on scene to ensure it doesn’t reignite. 

The prime mover was not impacted and able to be detached from the trailers which were a total loss with a minimum damage amount of $200,000 excluding contents. 

SA Police are on scene supporting with traffic control. If driving in the area please drive to conditions and adhere to directions of emergency service personnel. A tow truck is now on scene to remove the trailers and further damage assessments to the road will be done in the morning.
