Truck fire on Eyre Highway - 9 November 2024 

Approximately 5 firefighting crews are working to extinguish a truck which has caught alight on the Eyre Highway at Puntabie, 45 km east of Ceduna. 

The fire was burning significantly when crews arrived on scene, including explosive fire behaviour and flames extending into surrounding grass. The grass fire was quickly contained and foam induction cannons were used to control the blaze within the truck trailer. The prime mover was not impacted and was able to be detached from the trailer which is a total loss. The estimated damage amount of the truck and contents is $200,000. 

The Eyre Highway will have traffic controls in place into the morning. While driving in the area please drive to conditions and adhere to directions of emergency services personnel. 

SA Police and SA Ambulance are on scene supporting firefighters.
